[2024-1A] Pond [STAGE 1] – Silt Pond Repair
Project: 2024-1A
Status: Pending In Board Deliberations. This item cannot proceed until project 2024-4 is completed
Stage 1 involves repairing the silt pond flowing into the main pond.
The silt pond controls the debris flowing into the main pond.
We did not pursue Stage 1 during the winter due to the potential complications created from winter weather, and spring rains.
Scott McDade, who lives adjacent to the silt pond, created a temporary remedy for the silt pond last winter.
This spring we received a quote from Foster Lakes, our primary pond service provider, in early June on making the Stage 1 repairs to the silt pond.
We were in the contracting stage when Foster informed us that the repair they recommended could be easily damaged during the fall cleaning process, and they could not guarantee that they would not damage the silt liner during this process.
Damage would result in the same damage that currently exits. This gave us cause for pause, as it did not appear to be a permanent solution.
Since the pond level was already lowered for the pump repair, we took the opportunity to consider other options that are less subject to future damage.
The temporary repair that Scott has made has has the silt pond at capacity, and is sufficient.
The board is evaluating the tradeoffs of a more permanent repair vs. the more damage prone option we were originally provided.
