[2024-0] Neighborhood Wide High Speed Fiber Optic [IN PROGRESS]

This has been an ongoing issue for several years, but there has been some activity on this item, so we thought it was worthy of inclusion.

Over the past several board cycles we have explored the possibility of installing high speed fiber throughout the neighborhood.

The initial results were not particularly positive, with quotes ranging from $300,000 – $500,000 for a neighborhood wide install.

To put that in perspective, this larger than our annual budget, which makes it a difficult sell from a cost perspective.

Recently, however, AT&T, who has legacy lines installed throughout the neighborhood has told us that “we are likely on the schedule for a neighborhood wide upgrade in later 2024, or early 2025.

The cost of this upgrade would be ZERO. We are hopeful that AT&T’s current schedule will materialize later in the year.
